Race Format:

The event starts and finishes at Kingsley Elementary School in Waterloo. The 5K race will be held on a beautiful loop course through one of Waterloo’s most mature residential areas. Slight hills and long straight-aways are characteristic. The final stretch is down beautiful Prospect Boulevard, a tree-lined street lined with plenty of room for people to cheer participants on.

Results & Awards:

Results will be electronically tabulated for almost instant access. Results will be also available on Chamber web site following the event.

Awards Ceremony will follow the spectacular finish of the 5K in the Kingsley Elementary playground around 8:45a.m. Special awards will be given to overall male and female of the 5K. *No double winners. Medallions will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each division.

Cost:

$15.00 per person entry if postmarked by May 23, 2008. The fee is $18.00 for entries received after May 23, 2008. Race day registrations will be accepted until 7:15a.m. Sorry, no guarantee of packet materials or t-shirt for those registering race day. Make checks payable to My Waterloo Days. How far do I have to run? How early do I have to get up?

You have a choice to run, jog, or walk (please no bicycles, roller blades or scooters) for 3.1 miles. Official start time is 8:00a.m. Walkers are welcome! All ages and abilities are welcome. Stroller participants are encouraged.

May I pick up my race packet early?

The packet, including your shirt, race number, pins, and other “neat stuff” may be picked up 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m., Monday, May 19th, 2008 – Thursday May 29th, 2008 at the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce located at 315 E. 5th Street, Waterloo; and on Friday, May 30th at Kingsley Elementary School (201 Sunset Road, Waterloo) from 4:30-7:00p.m. Race morning packet pickup will be at Kingsley Elementary School from 7:00-7:45a.m. TO AVOID CONGESTION, PLEASE PICKUP YOU PACKET BY FRIDAY MAY 30th.

Volunteer Opportunities Available! My Waterloo Days 5K Walk Run is always looking for volunteers to help us organize the 5K. Many of our volunteers also walk/run the 5K. If you are interested, we will contact you upon receipt of your registration. Thank you in advance!

Sure to be a favorite T-shirt: Specially designed short-sleeve t-shirts will be guaranteed to those registered prior to May 23, 2008.

Chip Timing: The My Waterloo Day 5K Walk/Run is using chip timing for more efficient finish line results. Be sure to remove your chip and turn it in to volunteers after you cross the finish line.

Refreshments: Carbohydrates and goodies galore will be available at the finish.

Parking: No parking will be allowed along the race route. Please park on the side streets adjacent to the race route. Byrnes Park also has parking available.

Split time: Will be respectively yelled at 1 mile in the 5K race.

Aid Station: A water station will be provided at the finish line and first-aid staff will be available on site.
