Dear 2008 MWD Food Vendor; I am happy to announce some new and exciting changes are in store for My Waterloo Days May 29-June 1, 2008. The first change I am sure you will be happy with is the elimination of coupons. Yeah! We are also moving toward a single location in downtown Waterloo. The city is designing a new area on the West side of downtown near the convention center which will be an outdoor exposition center. This redesign is part of the entire River Renaissance project. However, this will not be ready for the 2008 festival. So, as a transition toward a single venue, we are consolidating to Lincoln Park where Thursday and Friday’s events have traditionally been held. We are proposing taking the street space to the East and West of the park (4th and Park Ave.). Because of the expanded activities in the park, we will need the grassy area for activities, and the food vendors will be relocated into the streets. We have also eliminated the buttons that were needed to enter Brynes Park making a free entrance location for all four days. We will continue to have the parade Saturday morning and will again have Fireworks Friday evening. Stage events will be relocated onto Park Ave. Street, allowing for the crowd to view in the grassy area. The national acts, traditionally Saturday and Sunday will be moved to the indoor facility at Young Arena protecting us from rainouts. However the seating capacity is only 4500, so we will have great crowds viewing bands performing in Lincoln Park at the same time to handle those unable to get into Young arena. Your application, along with your base fee deposit must be returned by February 15, 2008. Your application will be reviewed by the committee, and those accepted, will receive a written confirmation. If your application is not accepted your base fee will be refunded. We have also included a new page allowing you to give a more specific menu listing. Since we are consolidating, we must to continue to control duplication of menus. This does not mean any one vendor will be granted exclusivity on any one item. We will continue to do our best to provide the most variety for our customers. We also will not allow discounting of food items intended to create price wars. The entire My Waterloo Days committee and I look forward to working with you again.
